Why it matters: The charges represent swift police action following a serious assault that left a man in his 30s fighting for his life, with both suspects now remanded in custody awaiting their first court appearance.
The details: Police were called at just before 01:50 yesterday morning to reports of an incident in Whitehouse Park in north-west Ipswich. An altercation took place between a group of three teenage males and a group of four adults, resulting in one of the adults being stabbed.

The charges: Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested three male suspects in the Whitehouse area within an hour of being called. Two of the three have now been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.
The charged individuals are Azyruss Vantankeren, aged 19 and of no fixed address, and a 17-year-old boy from Colchester who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age.
What's next: Both defendants were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court today, Thursday 4 September.
The third person arrested – another 19-year-old man – was released on bail until Friday 28 November, pending further enquiries.
