
The details: Andrew Roche died after an altercation that began in Ulster Avenue on 25 July last year. He was taken to hospital but passed away on 11 August. His death has now resulted in a manslaughter conviction against a teenage defendant who cannot be named due to his age.
The jury at Ipswich Crown Court returned its verdict on Monday, 23 February. A co-accused, Thomas Watchman, 39, of Wicklow Road, was cleared of manslaughter but convicted of the alternative charge of assault by beating. Watchman was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, with time already served in custody taken into account.
What's next: The teenage defendant is expected to be sentenced on 17 April.
