Family interiors firm wins nationwide Lucy & Yak fashion rollout

Source One Consulting, a family-run commercial interiors firm in Ipswich, has won a nationwide contract to deliver stores for sustainable fashion brand Lucy & Yak after converting a listed building into a retail space in just five weeks.

Why it matters: It's the first time Lucy & Yak – which has grown from a startup in 2017 to a £33m turnover company today – has used an external partner for its UK stores, marking a significant vote of confidence in the Ipswich family firm.

The details: Source One won the contract after completing the Chester store earlier this year. The project required converting a Grade-listed heritage building in five weeks while managing planning approvals and listed building restrictions.

What they're saying: Lisa Lewis, managing director of Source One, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be chosen by Lucy & Yak as their fit-out partner for their national retail expansion. From the moment we began working together, it was clear that their energy, ethos and community focus were a natural fit with our approach."

She added: "This partnership isn't just about creating shops, it's about creating experiences. We're proud to help Lucy & Yak bring their vision to life and look forward to building spaces that embody their colour, cause and community."

For context: Pat and Lisa Lewis founded Source One in 2002 as a family business. The firm, which has an office in St Margaret's Green in Ipswich, won the People's Choice award for East & East Anglia at the Family Business of the Year Awards in 2024.

The bigger picture: Lucy & Yak was founded in 2017 and now employs approximately 200 staff with a £33m turnover, according to Companies House filings. The brand sells brightly coloured, relaxed styles with a focus on sustainable fashion and operates stores in cities including Brighton, Bristol and Norwich.

The bottom line: A five-week heritage building conversion has earned an Ipswich family business a nationwide contract to deliver stores for one of Britain's fastest-growing fashion brands.
