Edward Osborne's family notified as body found two months after disappearance

After Edward Osborne's car was discovered in Ipswich in January, a body has now been recovered in Harwich, with formal identification pending.

What happened: A body was found on the shoreline in Harwich on Friday, 14 March, two months after 43-year-old Edward Osborne was reported missing from Framlingham.

The big picture: Edward was last heard from at 17:30 on Tuesday, 14 January. His blue Skoda was discovered in the Gainsborough area of Ipswich on Friday, 17 January, after a member of the public alerted police.

Why it matters: Following the discovery of his vehicle, officers focused their search efforts around the River Orwell and surrounding coastline.

For context: The multi-agency operation involved Suffolk Police working alongside HM Coastguard and Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SulSAR) teams.

What they're saying: Police have confirmed that while no formal identification has yet been made, Edward's next of kin have been notified of the discovery.

What's next: A file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course.

The bottom line: The discovery comes after an extensive search operation that began when Edward's car was located in Ipswich, as concerns grew for his welfare.
