'She lit up any room she walked into' – family's tribute to Karlie Sone

The family of Karlie Sone, the 28-year-old Ipswich woman whose death is being investigated as murder, have described her as a "beautiful, caring soul" who lived for her two daughters.

Why it matters: Karlie, from Ipswich, was found unresponsive at a Russet Road address in the early hours of Tuesday, 10 March, and declared deceased a short time later. A Home Office post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday, 11 March, with the cause of death pending further investigation.

What her family say: In a tribute issued through Suffolk Police, Karlie's family said: "Our beloved Karlie Sone was a much-loved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, auntie, and friend.

"Our family is absolutely devastated that our beautiful Karlie has been ripped away from her two daughters and her family and friends, leaving an unfillable void in all of our hearts.

"Karlie was the most beautiful, caring soul you could ever wish to meet; she lit up any room she walked into; her smile and her infectious laugh would brighten everyone's day. She was so funny and would always have all who knew her laughing. If Karlie wasn't surrounding herself with family, she was with her incredible friends raving all the way through the night to drum and bass, which was her second passion after being a mother.

"The tragic loss of Karlie has meant that her daughters will now have to face life and grow up without their amazing, loving mummy by their side. They were her absolute world.

"Karlie will always be in our thoughts and memories, and she will never be forgotten. Although she will be sorely missed, she will live on through her daughters, who will always be loved and cherished as she would have wanted.

"We would like to express our gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family and strangers who have generously rallied to support our family at this difficult time.

"We will never get over losing Karlie, and we will forever be heartbroken. Rest in peace Karlie, we all love you so much."

What's next: Paul Stevenson, 39, of Fletcher Road, Ipswich, has been charged with Karlie's murder. He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 12 March, and Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, 13 March, and has been remanded in custody pending his next hearing on Monday, 11 May.

The bottom line: Karlie Sone's family have paid a heartfelt tribute to a devoted mother and beloved friend, as the man charged with her murder awaits his next court appearance in May.
