Ipswich man charged with attempted murder after Fircroft Road attack in court today

A 20-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving after a man was left with life-changing injuries when a car was allegedly driven at him on Fircroft Road.

Why it matters: Brandon Mann, of Goldsmith Road, Ipswich, has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving in connection with the incident on Friday, 19 June. He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court today, Monday, 22 June.

The details: Emergency services were called at just before 22:00 on Friday, 19 June to reports of a serious collision outside the Co-Op on Fircroft Road. Following an earlier altercation, it is reported that the driver of a white Volkswagen Polo drove at the victim, trapping him against a wall, before the driver and passenger fled the scene on foot. It is believed the parties are known to each other.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, sustained open leg fractures described as life-changing. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and remains in a stable condition.

What's next: A second 20-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed to return to police on 25 August. Two further men arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs have been bailed to return to police on 20 and 21 August respectively.

Appeal: Suffolk Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage to come forward.
