Prepare for the day ahead with everything you need to know this morning, including today's weather forecast, traffic notices and a roundup of yesterday's news in case you missed it.

The weather

We're looking at a chilly but bright start, with sunny intervals changing to cloudy conditions in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of 9°C but feel notably cooler at 3-7°C.

Today's forecast:

  • Sunny spells throughout the morning and early afternoon

  • Light WSW winds of 6-9 mph with gusts up to 22 mph

  • Very good to good visibility throughout the day

  • Dry conditions with less than 5% chance of rain until evening

  • Sun sets at 16:38

Make sure you:

  • Wrap up warm, as it'll feel quite cold despite the sunshine

  • Consider layering your clothing – you might want to remove layers when in the sun

  • Make the most of the dry weather if you're planning outdoor activities

  • Keep an eye on elderly neighbours during this cold spell

  • Remember your sunglasses – UV index remains at one despite the cold
