Weapon brandished during weekend road rage incident at Ipswich junction

Police are investigating after a BMW driver brandished a weapon, threatened another motorist and damaged their vehicle at traffic lights on Sproughton Road.

The details: The confrontation occurred at the busy junction of Sproughton Road and Bramford Road on Saturday 8th March at around 10:00.

  • It involved a black Dacia Duster and a black BMW 3 Series four-door saloon, which possibly had tinted windows.

  • Police report that the BMW driver threatened the other motorist with a weapon before causing damage to their vehicle while driving away.

Police appeal: The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, approximately 6ft tall with medium-length hair and dressed in black.

What's next: Suffolk Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward, quoting crime reference 37/13072/25.

The bottom line: Information can be reported via the Suffolk Police website, by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In emergencies, the public should call 999.
