Vintage street market brings 15 traders to empty Walk units

A vintage and retro street market held on Sunday filled three vacant units in The Walk with traders and attracted visitors who travelled into town specifically for the event.

The details: The rain held off and the sun came out as fifteen traders came together on Sunday, 7 September, for The Walk's inaugural vintage market, organised by Becky Eaks of The Military Unit.

The market spread across The Walk's streets and filled three vacant units with vintage and retro finds.

  • Vinyl Chief, Mc Musk Hides and Pinkie & Quirky brought vibrant colours and unique discoveries.

  • Bulldog Vintage set up in unit 15 alongside Suffolk Mind, Art Persona Co and Repurpose and Revival.

  • The Crafty Fox booked buskers throughout the afternoon to enhance the atmosphere.

  • Rainbow Badges and Gorse Military Surplus led the market down to Unit 24, where Darling Vintage Store, Wren Wild and Haley's Vintage Wear created elegant displays with stunning dresses.

  • Needful Things transformed the former Bon Bon unit on the corner into an elaborate art display.

Customer feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many visitors venturing into town specifically for the event.

What's next: Traders expressed enthusiasm about returning for future events. Organisers hope to establish regular monthly markets, with plans to expand the theme to include upcycled jewellery and homewares, as well as more art, fashion, and possibly antiques.

The Walk is hosting additional street markets in October for Halloween and December for Christmas this year.

The bottom line: Sunday's vintage market breathed new life into The Walk's empty units, with organisers hoping to make it a regular monthly event that continues attracting visitors to the town centre.
