Why it matters: The victim is now believed to be in a stable condition, whilst the investigation continues into what police described as a targeted assault between people known to each other.

What happened: Police were called at around 4:30pm yesterday to reports of an incident on Handford Cut. A man in his 30s was approached by a group of men before being attacked and sustaining stab wound injuries. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The arrests: The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and driving without insurance. The 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Both were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

What's next: Both suspects have been bailed with conditions and must return to police on 6 August 2025.

Police appeal: Officers continue seeking witnesses or anyone with information about the incident. They want to speak to anyone with CCTV, doorbell camera footage, or dash-cam recordings from the area.

How to help: Contact Suffolk Police quoting reference 37/38337/25 via https://www.suffolk.police.uk/tell-us, by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. In an emergency, always call 999.

The bottom line: Two suspects in yesterday's Ipswich stabbing have been bailed pending further investigation, whilst the victim recovers in hospital in a stable condition.
