What happened: Officers were called at around 4:30pm today to reports of an incident on Handford Cut, off Handford Road. A man in his 30s was approached by a group of men before being attacked and sustaining stab wound injuries.

Police believe this was a targeted assault between individuals known to each other, suggesting it was not a random attack on members of the public.

The arrests: The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and driving without insurance. The 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Both remain in custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

What police want: Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident. They particularly want to speak to anyone who has CCTV, doorbell camera footage, or was driving in the area with dash-cam recordings.

How to help: Anyone with information should contact Suffolk Constabulary quoting reference 37/38337/25 via their website at https://www.suffolk.police.uk/tell-us, by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

The bottom line: Swift arrests have been made following a serious assault in Ipswich, with police treating it as a targeted incident rather than a random attack on the public.
