The weather

It's going to be a cloudy day with sunny intervals during the morning hours. Temperatures will range from 3-8°C but will feel notably cooler at 1-6°C.

Today's forecast:

  • Sunny spells through the morning, becoming overcast by lunchtime

  • Temperatures remaining stable at 7-8°C through the afternoon

  • Light westerly winds with gusts up to 19mph

  • Excellent visibility during the morning, becoming moderate later

Make sure you:

  • Wrap up warm – it'll feel quite chilly with temperatures feeling as low as 1°C

  • Take advantage of the morning sunshine for any outdoor activities

  • Consider a light jacket for later as cloud cover increases

The week ahead looks consistently cool, with temperatures gradually dropping to 3°C by Saturday before a slight rise early next week.

Traffic restrictions

Belstead Avenue, Ipswich: Suffolk County Council has implemented a road closure and access-only restrictions today for streetworks.

Cotswold Avenue, Ipswich: A road closure is in place today for streetworks managed by Suffolk County Council.

Dale Hall Lane, Ipswich: A diversion route is in operation today due to streetworks.

Luther Road, Ipswich: A diversion route is in place today for streetworks.

Waterford Road, Ipswich: A road closure and diversion route via Cavan Road are in place today for streetworks.

Planned roadworks

Belstead Avenue, Ipswich: Suffolk County Council is carrying out urgent pothole repairs from Luther Road to outside number 35, with a road closure in place.

Belstead Road, Ipswich: Anglian Water is conducting works with multi-way signals in place until January 16.

Burrell Road, Ipswich: Two-way traffic signals are in operation for pothole repairs between Stoke Street and Princes Street junction.

Cauldwell Hall Road, Ipswich: Anglian Water is conducting works with two-way traffic signals in place until January 16.

Cotswold Avenue, Ipswich: Suffolk County Council is undertaking urgent pothole repairs from Cheltenham Avenue to Dale Hall Lane, with a road closure until January 15.

Congreve Road, Ipswich: Pothole repairs are being carried out at the junction with Fircroft Road using multi-way signals.

Henley Road Service Road North of Defoe Road, Ipswich: Suffolk County Council is repairing defects outside numbers 289 to 309.

Henniker Road, Ipswich: Defect repairs are taking place outside number 12 to the junction with Adair Road.

Ivry Street, Ipswich: Anglian Water works are ongoing until January 15 with give and take traffic control.

Landseer Road, Ipswich: Drop kerb installation works outside number 270 with give and take traffic control until January 15.

Larchcroft Road, Ipswich: Anglian Water works are in progress until January 16 with give and take traffic control.

New Cardinal Street, Ipswich: Repairs to loose kerbing and sunken road surface are taking place at the rear entrance of Providence House until January 15.

Parnell Close, Ipswich: Road defect repairs are being carried out outside number 10.

Waterford Road, Ipswich: Suffolk County Council is conducting urgent pothole repairs from Cavan Road to Connaught Road with a road closure, and additional defect repairs outside number 60.

Wroxham Road, Ipswich: Cadent is carrying out essential gas network works until January 20 with give and take traffic control.
