Train disruptions in Ipswich following overhead wire issue in Colchester

Ipswich rail passengers face travel chaos as overhead wire problems at Colchester cause widespread service disruptions with Greater Anglia warning of delays and cancellations affecting multiple routes.

Why it matters: This is the second major disruption in two weeks, impacting commuters and travellers between Ipswich and London.

The details:

  • Services through Colchester are being delayed, cancelled and disrupted in both directions.

  • Affected routes include Liverpool Street to Colchester Town, Liverpool Street to Ipswich/Norwich, and Liverpool Street to Clacton-on-Sea.

  • Disruption is expected until 15:30.

  • This follows significant disruptions two weeks ago due to damaged wires at Colchester.

The bottom line: Passengers should check their journey before travelling and allow extra time.
