Performer applications open for 35th Ipswich Music Day festival

Local musicians and performers can now apply to be part of the 35th Ipswich Music Day – the UK's biggest free one-day music festival, held every year at Christchurch Park.

Why it matters: The festival provides a platform for local talent, giving performers the chance to showcase their music to thousands of visitors in Christchurch Park.

The big picture: This year's event marks 35 years of celebrating local music and culture in Ipswich. Last year, more than 300 acts applied for performance slots, with 45 being selected to take to the stage.

The details: The event takes place on Sunday, 6 July 2025 and features six stages across Christchurch Park:

  • Open to performers from Ipswich, Suffolk and East Anglia

  • Applications close at midnight on Sunday, 30 March

  • Successful applicants will be notified by Friday, 18 April

Beyond the music: The family-friendly event will also feature:

  • Fairground rides

  • Activities

  • Market stalls

  • Food vendors

What they're saying: Ipswich Borough Council Leader Neil MacDonald called the event one of his "favourite days of the entire year" and "the highlight of the events calendar for the Council."

He added: "We hope to attract even more performers and once again bring an array of different musical genres to delight the crowds."

The bottom line: Musicians and performers have until 30 March to apply through the Ipswich Entertains website for their chance to be part of this milestone celebration.
