Local law firm renews support for dementia-friendly community cafés

Ellisons Solicitors has extended its partnership with Ipswich Town Foundation's Golden Days Cafés, which provide monthly support to those affected by dementia.

Why it matters: The cafés provide a vital lifeline for individuals living with dementia, their caregivers, and bereaved family members across Suffolk, creating safe spaces for community connection and support.

The details: The Golden Days Cafés operate monthly at two locations:

  • First Thursday of every month at Portman Road, Ipswich

  • Third Wednesday of every month at Bury Town FC

  • Sessions run from 10:30-12:30

  • Priced at £6 per cared-for participant

  • Refreshments and lunch provided for all attendees and volunteers

What they're saying: "We are incredibly proud to continue our support of the Golden Days Cafés," Nicola Weldon, Partner and Head of Private Client at Ellisons , said. "These sessions provide a lifeline for so many individuals and families living with dementia, offering both practical support and a real sense of community."

For context: Ellisons' sponsorship began when the Portman Road Café launched in June 2022. The firm's staff regularly attend sessions to provide advice and support to participants.

The bigger picture: Ellisons Solicitors is one of the region's oldest established firms, founded over 250 years ago, and holds Dementia Friendly accreditation as part of its community engagement ethos.

What's next: Sarah Dooley, Head of Business & Operations at Ipswich Town Foundation, praised the partnership: "The support of Ellisons Solicitors has been crucial to the success of the Golden Days Café provision. We're incredibly grateful to Nicola Weldon and all at Ellisons for their continued support for a programme that continues to have such a positive impact."

The bottom line: Those interested in the Golden Days Café can contact Health & Inclusion Co-ordinator, Lauren Revill at lauren.revill@itfcfoundation.co.uk for more information.
