Local Buddhist group secures international exhibition for Suffolk and Essex

Members of Soka Gakkai International have successfully secured the Seeds of Hope and Action exhibition to bring to the area in September 2026, focusing on sustainable living and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Why it matters: The international exhibition, created in collaboration with Earth Charter International, aims to inspire lasting change by showing how individual actions can contribute to global peace and sustainability.

The details: The Seeds of Hope and Action exhibition promotes the message that "it takes only one person to take one step to peace to move toward real and lasting change." The display supports the Sustainable Development Goals and presents a vision for sustainable living.

Local SGI members are now seeking collaborators to help bring the exhibition to Suffolk and Essex, including venue providers and educational establishments interested in bringing students to view the displays.

What they're saying: Jo Taylor, SGI Women's Division Leader for East Anglia South, said: "We're delighted to bring the international Seeds of Hope and Action exhibition to Suffolk and Essex."

What's next: Students elsewhere have used ideas from the exhibition as the basis for school projects. The SGI is encouraging people to visit their stand at the One Big Multicultural Festival to learn more about collaboration opportunities.

For context: The SGI is a worldwide community practising Nichiren Buddhism that focuses on peace, culture and education, taking action in society based on respect for the dignity of life.

The bottom line: The exhibition represents an opportunity for local communities to engage with global sustainability issues and discover how individual actions can contribute to meaningful change.

Anyone interested in collaborating can visit the SGI stand at the One Big Multicultural Festival or email josephinetaylor01@gmail.com or joy.vanhelvert@gmail.com.
