Giant observation wheel installation progresses at Ipswich Waterfront

Work has started on a 144ft observation wheel just outside the James Hehir building at the University of Suffolk. It's set to open this Saturday.

Why it matters: The attraction will be larger than the wheel installed in Felixstowe last summer, offering visitors panoramic views of up to 10 miles in all directions on clear days.

The details:

  • The wheel features 27 open-air gondolas

  • It will operate seven days a week until Sunday, 16 March

  • Each ride consists of three rotations, taking approximately 10 to 15 minutes

By the numbers:

  • Child ticket: £4

  • Adult ticket: £5

  • Family ticket (two adults and three children): £20

What's next: Construction will continue over the next few days to prepare the wheel for its opening day on Saturday.

The bottom line: Tickets will be available to purchase directly from the wheel, with the attraction offering views across the waterfront and town until mid-March.
