Why it matters: The debut festival showcases local musical talent while creating a safe environment for young performers to develop their skills and gain confidence on stage.
The big picture: Emma Turnbull, who has managed The Fountain for three months, has organised the three-day celebration to bring the community together through music. The event features performers from across Suffolk, including established local acts and first-time performers taking their initial steps into live music.
The details: The festival kicks off on Friday, 29 August at 17:00 with DJ Ed "Wine-man" Keith, followed by Brendan Ware from 18:00-20:00. Headliner Lauren Aubery takes the stage at 20:00 to close out the opening night.
Saturday offers family-friendly entertainment starting with harpist Lilianna providing a relaxing brunch soundtrack from 10:00-11:30, followed by a children's disco. The afternoon features Christian Smith and Beatles cover duo Words & Music, before local favourite Harriet Cree performs at 20:30 with her new band "Cree & The Machine" - a special one-night-only formation.
Sunday rounds off the weekend with a blues and jazz brunch from 10:00-12:00, followed by a family-friendly musical movie sing-along on the patio from 12:00-14:00. The afternoon showcases emerging talent with open mic sessions from 15:00-19:00, including a young local band making their live debut from 15:00-17:00.
What they're saying: "It's incredible to see how local talent can bring our community together. Young performers inspire us all, it's so important they get their start in a safe environment allowing them to flourish and grow, I can't wait to see them take the stage at Fountain Fest!" said Emma Turnbull.
The bottom line: The inaugural three-day festival showcases local musicians and offers open mic opportunities alongside family activities throughout the weekend.
