Former Renault dealership on Woodbridge Road to become a new Co-op store next year

The East of England Co-op has announced plans to open a new food store on Woodbridge Road, Ipswich. The proposed store will replace the current Brunswick Road location, offering a larger space and more services.

Here's what you need to know: The new store, the second to be announced in Ipswich this year, will replace the former Renault dealership on 345 Woodbridge Road.

  • It will feature on-site parking, a wider range of products, and environmentally friendly features.

  • The current Brunswick Road store staff will relocate to the new site.

  • The store is set to open in spring 2025, subject to planning permission.

Why it matters: This move is part of the Co-op's £5m plan to reshape its retail portfolio, with five new food stores announced this year alone.

What they're saying: Doug Field OBE, Chief Executive Officer for the East of England Co-op, said: "We're excited to announce plans to open a new store on Woodbridge Road, Ipswich. This new location allows us to provide an even better shopping experience for our customers, with a larger, more modern space and the convenience of on-site parking, whilst relocating all our fantastic colleagues from our nearby Brunswick Road store."

The bottom line: The new Woodbridge Road store aims to enhance the shopping experience for Ipswich residents with modern facilities and a focus on environmental sustainability.
