Why it matters: Just a short drive from Ipswich, the festival offers the perfect opportunity to explore the Suffolk countryside while enjoying local breweries, food and unique entertainment that you won't find in town.

The details: Entry costs £10 and includes a free beer and reusable drinking vessel for the festival taking place in the large field space next to The Royal Oak in East End, East Bergholt.

  • The countryside setting provides the perfect backdrop for more than just beer tasting, with a partnership with Suffolk Swords, a local historical re-enactment group, adding medieval combat displays, demonstrations and archery experiences for all ages.

  • The beer selection features a wide range of East Anglian breweries, including Humber Doucy, Mauldons and Nethergate, alongside local street food vendors, live music and vinyl DJs to keep the atmosphere buzzing throughout the day.

What they're saying: Tom Brown, landlord at The Royal Oak, said: "We wanted the first East End Beer Festival to be more than just a celebration of great beer. By partnering with Suffolk Swords, we can add something truly unique whilst appealing to audiences of all ages. It's all about creating memories, and we're really excited to share this with the local community."

For context: The Royal Oak dates back to the 1800s and has been a staple in the local community for many years, welcoming locals, walkers and cyclists alike.

The bottom line: For anyone seeking a countryside adventure this weekend, the festival runs from 12:00 until late, offering a perfect day trip that combines the charm of rural Suffolk with unique entertainment, local ales and authentic community spirit.
