College and university launch charity-business platform

Suffolk New College and University of Suffolk brought together over a dozen local charities and businesses in a new event designed to build partnerships beyond traditional fundraising. Organisers plan to make it an annual Christmas fixture.

Mayor of Ipswich Cllr Stefan Long  opened the event, saying: "Charities and businesses coming together to champion good causes across Ipswich is the perfect way to capture the importance of helping others during the festive season."

What's next: Matten said organisers plan to expand the event in 2026. "It's been amazing to see everyone together, and it's something we want to do every year and grow," she added.

The bottom line: Suffolk's educational institutions are stepping beyond their traditional role to build lasting infrastructure connecting charities with local business support, aiming to raise vital funds and forge long-term partnerships through an annual Christmas platform.
