When will The Thrasher reopen, and what's changing?
Regulars of The Thrasher on Nacton Road should note their local has closed today for refurbishment works, with a reopening planned for next month following a six-figure investment.
Why it matters: The Hungry Horse pub will be shut for several weeks while renovation works take place. It is expected to reopen in July.
The details: The works will include an interior refresh with new furniture and décor, upgraded TV screens and sound systems showing Sky Sports and TNT Sports, and the installation of a self-serve coffee machine.
Outside, the pub's garden will receive new furniture and additional seating, updated signage, festoon lighting and a refreshed children's play area.
What's new: When the pub reopens, it will open from 09:00 each day and introduce a breakfast menu. Greene King says it also plans to introduce a programme of events including live music, open mic nights, karaoke and quiz nights.
The bottom line: The Thrasher will be closed for the remainder of June while works take place, with a reopening expected in July.
