University of Suffolk wins triple at national student awards
The University of Suffolk has won three prizes at the UK's most student-driven higher education awards, scooping top honours for teaching quality, postgraduate and international student experiences.
Why it matters: The Whatuni Student Choice Awards are judged entirely on the views of current students. More than 42,000 student reviews informed this year's winners.
The details: The University of Suffolk took gold in three categories at the ceremony in London, including Lecturers and Teaching Quality, Postgraduate students' experiences and International students' experiences.
It is the second year running the University has won the Lecturers and Teaching Quality award. Last year, it also took home University of the Year and Student Support prizes.
What they're saying: Professor Jenny Higham, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Suffolk, said: "To come away with three awards from this year's Whatuni Student Choice Awards is a tremendous achievement. We would like to extend our thanks to all of our students whose reviews contributed to us winning these awards.
"We strive to provide an exceptional student experience for all of our learners at Suffolk, and these awards demonstrate the satisfaction our students have with their experience."
Simon Emmett, UK chief executive of IDP Education, which operates the Whatuni platform, said: "Student feedback shows that the University of Suffolk shines for outstanding levels of teaching and for across-the-board student support."
The bigger picture: The University's postgraduate offering has grown in recent years, with the launch of the MSc Financial Technology course last autumn and further new postgraduate courses launching this September. Its international recruitment has also expanded significantly, growing from a focus on three target countries to a worldwide approach spanning 17 key countries alongside broader global demand.
The bottom line: Back-to-back triple gold wins at the UK's most student-driven awards place the University of Suffolk among the country's most highly rated institutions for student experience.
