Leif Davis and Colette Cavanagh named Ipswich Town Foundation trustees

Why it matters: The pair will drive the Foundation's message in both dressing rooms, actively engage in Foundation activities and support their teammates in doing so, as part of a Board that works to ensure the Foundation operates responsibly and effectively in the community.

The details: Davis joined the club from Leeds United in 2022 and has taken on the most community engagements of any men's first-team player during the 2025/26 season. Cavanagh has played an integral role behind the scenes with the Foundation since her move to Suffolk in January, regularly volunteering at the Beyond Labels: Adult PAN Football sessions and the EMPOWER Hub Hot Meal Group.

Their appointments follow the departures of Conor Chaplin and Natasha Thomas this summer, who had held the trustee roles since 2022.

What they're saying: Dan Palfrey, chief executive of Ipswich Town Foundation, said: "We're delighted to welcome Leif and Colette onto the Board of Trustees. Both have shown remarkable commitment to the Foundation, with Leif's growing year-on-year and Colette going above and beyond to know and understand our work. They have a clear understanding of what we do, why we do it, and where we're trying to go.

Davis said: "It is a real honour to be named a Trustee of the Ipswich Town Foundation. During my time at the club, it has been a privilege to have the opportunity to see first-hand just how big a role the Foundation plays in our community and the impact the work it does can have on the lives of so many people.

"As football players, we have a duty to do everything we can to help, and I have been inspired by the work Conor Chaplin and Natasha Thomas have done over the last few years. I'm proud to now take that work on on behalf of the men's first-team, and I can't wait to get started."

Cavanagh added: "It's a massive honour to be named a Trustee. I've seen first-hand the impact that the Foundation has on the community, and it's something that I'm absolutely delighted to be a part of.

"The impact that we have on the community is massive, and to be a part of that within Ipswich is massive for me, so I'm relishing every moment and taking every opportunity."

For context: Town Chairman Mark Ashton said: "When we first joined the Football Club we knew we needed to rebuild the Community Trust - now the Foundation - and as part of that we wanted to do something different and meaningful in appointing players to the Board of Trustees.

"We need a bridge from the Foundation into our Men's and Women's teams to ensure the players fully understand the importance of their engagement with the community, and that responsibility now falls on Leif and Colette to continue the brilliant work done by Conor Chaplin and Natasha Thomas since their appointment in 2022.

"Having spoken to Leif and Colette about their roles and responsibilities, I know they'll be brilliant, and I'm delighted to have them on board."

The bottom line: With Davis and Cavanagh stepping into the trustee roles, Ipswich Town is renewing its commitment to linking its playing staff with the Foundation's community work, continuing the bridge-building approach between the dressing room and the Foundation started by Chaplin and Thomas in 2022.
