Ipswich School unveils facelift to historic Henley Road frontage

• Boys' Boarding has benefited from continued improvements during 2026, including a new kitchen completed in April, creating an enhanced communal space for boarders. Further work over the summer focused on bedrooms and living spaces.

For context: Ipswich School's history stretches back more than six centuries. The earliest surviving evidence of the school dates from 1399, although its origins are thought to reach further back to the medieval grammar school established in the town. Its history includes links with Cardinal Wolsey, royal recognition from Henry VIII and a renewed royal charter from Elizabeth I in 1566. It is the only school mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare.
