Suffolk New College is set to host a charity fashion show in aid of Cancer Support Suffolk on Friday, 12 June, with former Ipswich Town manager George Burley among those taking to the catwalk.

Why it matters: Cancer Support Suffolk provides vital support to people across the county living with cancer, and the event aims to raise funds to help the charity continue its work.

The details: The show will take place at the college's Rope Walk campus in Ipswich. All models have either had a cancer diagnosis or work closely with the charity.

Hair and beauty students from the college will be helping to prepare the models, while music students will provide entertainment on the night. Local independent pop-up shops will also be in attendance, and guests will be greeted with arrival drinks and nibbles.

What they're saying: Mark Murphy, chief executive of Cancer Support Suffolk, said: "I am so thrilled that our patron George Burley is going to be modelling for us. The staff and students at Suffolk New College have really embraced the show and will be providing lots of help and support on the night, it's going to be a very emotional evening."

Alan Pease, principal and chief executive of Suffolk New College, said he has a personal connection to the cause after Cancer Support Suffolk supported his wife Angela following her cancer diagnosis last year.

"I know firsthand of the work that Cancer Support Suffolk does thanks to the incredibly brilliant help they gave to my wife Angela," he said. "It is our absolute privilege to support this amazing charity."

The bottom line: The fashion show brings together the college community and local cancer charity for what organisers describe as "a very emotional evening".
