Bramford man jailed for six years over drug dealing

The details: Ellis Whitehead, 25, of Buzzard Lane, Bramford, and Elise Wells-Ram, 28, of Drumlin Drive, Creeting St Mary, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, 27 August.

Whitehead was sentenced to six years' imprisonment after previously pleading guilty to:

• Being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug (cocaine)
• Being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (cannabis)
• Two counts of possession of criminal property (a large quantity of cash)

Wells-Ram was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, after previously pleading guilty to two counts of permitting a premises to be used for the supply of drugs – one in respect of cocaine and one in respect of cannabis.

What happened: Police officers first attended an address in Buzzard Lane, Bramford, on 24 January 2025, responding to concerns of anti-social behaviour linked to suspected drug-dealing. Whitehead and Wells-Ram were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, interviewed and released on bail while the investigation continued.

Following continued concerns raised with police, officers returned to the address on 3 October 2025 and executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act. They seized 22 grams of cocaine along with £1,000. Evidence of cannabis supply was later uncovered through phone analysis work.

Whitehead was re-arrested and charged the following day. Wells-Ram was charged and issued a summons to court on 22 December.

Financial enquiries identified more than £300,000 passing through the pair's bank accounts between February 2022 and October 2025.

What's next: Both defendants will be subject to Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings later this year.

What they're saying: PC Alan Besley of the South Kestrel Team, who investigated the offences, said: "Suffolk Police will not tolerate people blighting communities by dealing drugs and the associated criminality and anti-social behaviour that often comes with it.

"We will act on intelligence provided to us and respond to concerns raised by members of the public to disrupt this activity and bring those responsible to justice."
