Sampson Green open day showcases new affordable homes on former industrial site

Legal & General is holding an open day on Saturday, 13 December, at its new Sampson Green development, where 71 homes are available through Shared Ownership from £125,000 for a 50 per cent share.

Why it matters: The development has transformed a former industrial site on Sandyhill Lane that remained vacant for nearly 30 years, delivering high-quality affordable two, three and four-bedroom houses in Ipswich.

The details: The open day runs on Saturday, 13 December, with bookings by appointment only. Visitors can explore three-bedroom show homes and learn how Shared Ownership can make homeownership more affordable.

Shared Ownership allows buyers to purchase part of a home and rent the rest, with opportunities to increase their share over time. This scheme enables people to get on the property ladder with a smaller deposit.

Homes are available from £125,000 for a 50 per cent share of the full market value.

The bigger picture: The new community provides 88 houses on what was an unused industrial site, with 71 available through Shared Ownership.

The development features over four acres of greenery, including a wildflower meadow and a children's play area, with good schools for all ages, local parks and nature reserves. The train station and waterfront are both within a very short drive.

Key features: All homes include "generous living spaces", private turfed rear gardens, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, and have a minimum of two parking bays.

The bottom line: The open day offers homebuyers the chance to explore new affordable homes on a formerly vacant site, with Shared Ownership providing an accessible route to homeownership in the town.
