Police are investigating after receiving 20 reports of attempted vehicle break-ins across Ipswich, with 12 successful thefts including a car stolen from Radcliffe Drive. The incidents occurred between Friday evening and Sunday morning.

Why it matters: Multiple neighbourhoods have been affected by the thefts, with items ranging from small valuables to an entire car being stolen.

The details: Reports began around 8pm on Friday 29 November and continued into the early hours of Sunday 1 December. Thieves successfully broke into 12 vehicles, stealing items including:

  • A laptop and Samsung phone

  • Cash and bank cards

  • Bluetooth earbuds

  • A grey Vauxhall Astra, taken between 3pm on 30 November and 9.45am on 1 December

Where it happened: The incidents were spread across 16 streets in Ipswich:

  • Windsor Road

  • Pin Mill Close

  • Appleby Close

  • Cherry Blossom Close

  • Eccles Road

  • Cinnabar Close

  • Dashwood Close

  • Dove Street

  • Osborne Road

  • Brunswick Road

  • Ashmere Grove

  • Swinton Close

  • Quilter Drive

  • Hawthorn Drive

  • Radcliffe Drive

  • Ranelagh Road

What's next: Police are appealing for witnesses and asking residents on the above streets to review doorbell camera footage to identify those responsible. They're asking anyone with information or footage of suspicious activity to contact them via their website or by calling 101.

The Ipswich Regent Theatre and Corn Exchange have unveiled their spring season programme, featuring top comedians Jimmy Carr and Jack Dee alongside Strictly Come Dancing stars and music tributes.
