Free IT health checks for Suffolk businesses until February

Local IT firm ICS, formerly Ipswich Computer Services, has launched an initiative offering free IT health checks to businesses across the region, with registration open until 18 February.

Why it matters: For businesses where IT downtime can disrupt operations, the checks offer an opportunity to identify potential vulnerabilities before they cause problems.

The details: The free health check reviews software, hardware and cyber security systems. ICS , which works with over 200 local businesses, says a common issue it encounters is outdated hardware or cyber security that leaves companies vulnerable or running inefficiently.

Director Craig Starling  said: "Many businesses are already under pressure in our current economy, and the last thing they need is unexpected IT problems adding to that. This check is about helping businesses understand where they may be exposed and giving them peace of mind that their IT isn't going to let them down at the wrong time."

What's on offer: The checks examine three areas:

  • Software systems are reviewed for performance and efficiency to identify if they are running optimally.

  • Hardware is assessed for condition and capability to check if equipment is up to date.

  • Cyber security protections are evaluated to review defences against potential threats.

The company says the initiative reflects its proactive approach to IT support, aiming to help businesses spot potential issues early and reduce risk.

What's next: Businesses can register by completing a short form. Availability is limited.

For context: ICS is a business IT support provider based in Suffolk, working with clients across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Services include IT support and infrastructure, cyber security and data protection, cloud services and Office 365, and website building and domain hosting. The company's headcount has grown from 12 to 15 in the past year.

The bottom line: The free health checks are available to Suffolk businesses until registration closes on 18 February.
