New Co-op to open at Ipswich Station this Wednesday

The East of England Co-op will welcome customers to its new Ipswich Station branch from 5:30 on Wednesday, 4 June. The store, located in the former ticket office, will offer cashless payments only.

The details: The store is located at the former ticket office on the left-hand side of the station entrance and features barista coffee-to-go machines, a fresh in-store bakery, and a Fwip ice cream dispenser. As part of responsible retailing commitments, alcohol sales will be limited on home and away match days in agreement with Suffolk Police.

What they're saying: "We're delighted to be opening our latest food store at Ipswich Station," said Andy Rigby, chief executive officer for East of England Co-op. "This high-footfall location is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring our trusted East of England Co-op offering to busy commuters and visitors to the town."

The bigger picture: East of England Co-op has tailored this store specifically for modern travellers with "an emphasis on convenience, quality, and speed," according to Rigby, while "maintaining our commitment to great service and top-quality products."

Who's in charge: Alex Foulger, who has been with East of England Co-op for 19 years, will manage the new flagship store. "It's incredibly exciting to be named as the branch manager for our new flagship store right here at Ipswich Station," he said. "I can't wait to welcome customers through the doors, become part of their daily routine and a part of something special right at the heart of the town."

The bottom line: East of England Co-op's new station store represents the retailer's first fully cashless branch, with management emphasising the location's potential to serve the high volume of daily commuters and visitors.
