Why it matters: The record-breaking event at Christchurch Park on Saturday raised over £25,500 for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, beating last year's total and providing vital funds to enhance patient experience across local NHS services.
The details: A sold-out field of 500 participants took on the colourful 1km, 2.5km and 5km routes through powder paint stations, making it the most successful Colour Run to date. Families of all ages joined the fundraising effort, demonstrating strong community backing for East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

What they're saying: Among the fundraisers was Kimberley King from Colchester, alongside friends Carl and Ginny, who were raising funds in memory of their much-loved friend Heidi. She shared, "My best friend Heidi recently passed away from a rare form of liver cancer at the age of 30, just three weeks after her diagnosis, leaving behind her partner and two beautiful children."
She credits ESNEFT staff for their incredible care of Heidi and her family and friends at the end of her life, with their group raising over £560 to show thanks and support for the hospitals.
Sandra Gosney, the charity's community fundraising and events manager, said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the support for our Colour Run. To sell out and welcome so many runners shows how much our community values their local NHS services and the difference they make."
She added: "We would like to extend our thanks to everyone that supported us including the participants, suppliers, our sponsor Sodexo, and volunteers who made this event possible. Their support and commitment have been truly inspiring. Together, they have made a significant difference to the lives of patients, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity."

For context: The funds raised will provide extras that go above and beyond what the NHS can provide, from tea and coffee in waiting rooms to life-saving equipment and cutting-edge technology. The charity supports the trust's vision to continue improving patient experience across local hospitals and NHS services.
The bottom line: The record-breaking turnout demonstrates the strong community support for local NHS services, with the funds raised set to make a real difference to patient care across the region.
