Ipswich man given suspended sentence for arson and stalking

A 62-year-old man from Ipswich has been handed an 18-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to arson and stalking offences at Ipswich Crown Court.

The details: Nigel Moyes, formerly of Primrose Way in Ipswich, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, 26 June, where he was given a total sentence of 18 months, suspended for two years.

  • He pleaded guilty to two counts of arson and one count of stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

  • Moyes was also made the subject of a restraining order for 10 years and GPS monitoring for six months

What they're saying: PC Laura Henley said: "Stalking is a serious and distressing crime which can escalate into dangerous and destructive behaviour, like arson."

What's next: Police are urging anyone who believes they are being stalked to report it immediately. If you are in immediate danger call 999.
