Ipswich coffee firm brews up support for mental health

Paddy & Scott's has created a new decaffeinated coffee called Clear Mind, donating 25p from each bag sold to Suffolk Mind to fund mental health services.

Why it matters: The launch comes after new research from Suffolk Mind revealed just 33% of people in the county feel rested after sleeping, with caffeine intake later in the day linked to poor sleep.

The details: Clear Mind is a medium roast blend using beans from Frontera Chiapas in Mexico and decaffeinated with pure mountain water from the Pico de Orizaba volcano. It boasts tasting notes of cherry, milk chocolate and hazelnut spread.

Jon Neal, CEO of Suffolk Mind, said: "We are thrilled to partner with Paddy & Scott's again for the launch of Clear Mind – a great tasting coffee that has the potential to make a real difference.

"A lot of coffee snobs – me included – may have turned their nose up to decaf in the past, but the truth is it doesn't mean a compromise on flavour anymore.

"Clear Mind is a genuinely great tasting coffee that isn't just going to be good for your sleep, but good for the mental health of the county thanks to Paddy & Scott's generous donations."

What's next: Jonathan Read, CEO of Paddy & Scott's, added: "After seeing the positive impact of our Berry Brainwave smoothie partnership, which enabled us to donate proceeds to Suffolk Mind, we're excited to build on that success.

"This initiative marks another important step in offering coffee lovers the pleasure of great taste, without the caffeine, while continuing to support an exceptional charity that's making a real difference in our community."

The bottom line: Clear Mind is available as both ground coffee and whole bean bags at the Ipswich Waterfront Cafe or online.
