Four men charged after 'significant amount' of cocaine and cannabis seized during drug warrants

Four men, including three from Ipswich and Great Blakenham, have been charged with drugs offences following police warrants in Ipswich that uncovered large quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis last Tuesday.

The details: Police executed warrants on Tuesday, 1 July, in Ipswich and the surrounding area, leading to four arrests. Officers seized a large amount of suspected cocaine and a significant amount of cannabis during the operation.

The charges:

  • John Leighton, 35, of New Cut East, Ipswich, faces conspiracy to produce cannabis, being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, and acquiring criminal property.

  • Robin Southgate, 55, of Portland Way, Great Blakenham, is charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis and acquiring criminal property.

  • Dean Yule, 52, of Kemball Street, Ipswich, faces the same charges as Leighton.

  • Michael Harty, 55, formerly of Romford, Essex, is charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis and acquiring criminal property.

All criminal property charges relate to cash and bank transfers.

What's next: The four men appeared at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 3 July, and will next appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 31 July. Southgate, Harty and Yule were remanded in custody, while Leighton was granted bail with conditions.
