Local law firm Ellisons has appointed Carla Jones as Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation as businesses across the region seek more advice on managing commercial disputes.

Why it matters: The appointment comes as more businesses face disputes over contracts, fraud and director conduct, with firms seeking legal advice earlier to avoid costly court battles.

The details: Jones will lead Ellisons' commercial litigation practice, advising clients on business disputes including breach of contract, breach of restrictive covenants and confidence, civil fraud, and breach of directors' duties. She also has experience in shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence claims, and defamation.

Commercial litigation is growing at Ellisons, with businesses seeking earlier advice to manage risk and resolve disputes.

What they're saying: "It is an exciting time to be joining Ellisons, particularly following the recent move to our new Chelmsford office," Jones said. "The firm has an excellent reputation for high-quality advice and client service and I'm really looking forward to developing the commercial litigation team and continuing to build strong relationships with our clients."

Lee Pearce , partner and head of dispute resolution, added: "We are very pleased to welcome Carla to Ellisons. Her experience and commercial insight will add real strength to our dispute resolution offering, ensuring we continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients."

For context: Ellisons  operates across Suffolk and Essex with offices in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester, Chelmsford and Frinton-on-Sea, as well as London. The firm recently relocated to larger Chelmsford premises as part of its expansion.

The bottom line: Ellisons is expanding its commercial litigation practice with senior expertise as regional businesses face more complex legal disputes.
