BBC comedy star to headline Suffolk Mind's first stand-up night

Angelos Epithemiou from BBC's Shooting Stars will perform at Seckford Hall on Thursday, June 26, raising funds for mental health charity Suffolk Mind.

Why it matters: The event represents Suffolk Mind's inaugural comedy night fundraiser, supporting their mission to make Suffolk "the best place in the world for talking about and taking care of mental health."

The details: The critically-acclaimed former burger van operator – portrayed by Dan Renton Skinner – will be joined by fellow comics John Mann and Susan Murray, with Louie Green as MC.

Guests will receive a Greek feast as part of their ticket, featuring dishes including chicken souvlaki, pulled lamb kleftiko, Greek salad and halloumi.

Doors open at 18:00 with a free drink on arrival, food served at 19:00, and comedy starting at 20:00.

For context: Comedy fans may recognise Angelos from his appearances on other TV programmes including Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Rob Brydon Show and his very own The Angelos Epithemiou Show on Channel 4.

John Mann has previously been labelled a "complete genius" by Radio X host Johnny Vaughan, while Susan Murray has been described as a "feisty fire-headed pocket rocket" by arts reviewers Broadway Baby.

What they're saying: Henry Tapp, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Suffolk Mind, said: "We are delighted to welcome Angelos, John, Susan and Louie for our first ever comedy night in partnership with Glass Eye Comedy."

"We'll be serving up big laughs, drinks and amazing food all for a great cause – funding our mission of making Suffolk the best place in the world for talking about and taking care of mental health."

"Tickets are limited – so those looking for a great night of comedy and a smashing Greek feast should act fast to avoid disappointment," Tapp added.

The bottom line: Five local businesses are sponsoring the 18+ event: Pitkin & Ruddock, TMJ Interiors, Pound Gates, Bates, Wells & Braithwaite Solicitors and Hudson Group. Tickets and information on sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.suffolkmind.org.uk/stand-up.
