New outdoor exhibition space opens at New Wolsey Theatre

Four giant exhibition cubes have been installed outside the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich to showcase local initiatives and celebrate the town. The first exhibition features 'love letters' to Ipswich from local residents.

Why it matters: The semi-permanent installation creates a new public space for promoting local projects and good news stories about Ipswich, accessible to residents, visitors and theatre-goers 24 hours a day.

The big picture:

  • The exhibition space consists of four cubes, each with space for four display panels

  • Local community group Ipswich.Love is the first to use the space

  • The installation aims to enhance the area and showcase town initiatives

What they're saying: "Thanks to the New Wolsey Theatre for allowing use of this space, an outdoor exhibition will be on permanent display here to brighten and enhance this space in the town for residents, visitors, football fans and everyone who walks by to enjoy," says Lee Walker, CEO of Ipswich Central.

Miranda Acres of Ipswich.Love added: "With many visitors and theatregoers coming to our town from all over the UK, this public display is a great way to share the love that we all have for Ipswich."

Between the lines: The project represents collaboration between several local organisations:

  • Ipswich Central provided the exhibition space

  • New Wolsey Theatre offered the location

  • Hudson Signs handled installation and printing

  • Ipswich.Love created the first display

What's next: The space will continue to showcase initiatives that enhance the town, with exhibitions rotating to feature different local projects.

The bottom line: The new exhibition space transforms an unused area outside the New Wolsey Theatre into a community focal point, showcasing what makes our town so special.
