New bagel shop opens in Ipswich town centre

Eat Bagel has opened in the former Time2Vape unit on Butter Market, bringing a fresh dining option to the town centre after months of preparation.

Why it matters: The opening fills another vacant unit, adding to the town centre's independent food offering as it takes another step in the right direction.

The details: The new shop has taken over the 773 sq ft ground floor unit at 49 Butter Market, situated opposite The Works and two doors down from independent jewellers Robert Gatward.

Work has been ongoing in the premises since Penn Commercial announced it would become a bagel shop in May this year. The operators took on the unit in January 2025 and completed the fit-out process ready for yesterday's opening.

For context: The unit was formerly home to Time2Vape, which relocated to 16 Tavern Street in The Walk last August, leaving the Butter Market premises vacant.

The bottom line: Eat Bagel promises to bring a "brand new culinary experience" to the Buttermarket, according to property agents Penn Commercial, marking another independent business opening in Ipswich town centre.
