Man dies after car hits parked lorry on A14 at Stowmarket

A 70-year-old man has died and a woman suffered life-changing injuries after a car collided with a parked lorry on the A14 on Sunday afternoon. Police are appealing for dashcam footage and witnesses.

The details: The collision closed the westbound carriageway for 13 hours, with the road not reopening until 05:25 on Monday, 17 November.

  • Police were called at just after 16:20 on Sunday, 16 November, to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway near Stowmarket.

  • A black Jaguar XJ Sport collided with a MAN truck which was parked in a layby.

  • Fire and ambulance crews attended, but the driver of the Jaguar sadly died at the scene.

  • A female passenger in the Jaguar was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital having suffered a potentially life-changing leg injury.

What's next: Officers from the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward.

Police are asking any motorists driving in the area on Sunday afternoon with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
