Why it matters: The annual charity walk gives people the chance to explore the East Anglian countryside while raising money for hospital services that go beyond what the NHS can provide.
The details: Organised by Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, this year's route runs from Colchester Hospital to Ipswich Hospital.
Thanks to sponsorship from Pickering Electronics and Panther Security, funds raised will support services such as the Butterfly Service, Cancer Wellbeing Service, staff wellbeing or a ward or department chosen by the participant.
What they're saying: Among those taking part is Caroline Dow, a volunteer with the Butterfly Service at Ipswich Hospital, who supports patients receiving end-of-life care.
"I was particularly drawn to the Butterfly Volunteer role because I don't like to think of anyone being on their own at the end of their lives," said Caroline, who often spends time talking to patients or reading them poetry.
"I hope that being with someone may make their passing a bit more comfortable. I also know how hard it can be for a patient's family or loved ones, so am happy to chat with them or give them a break if they need time out."
She added, "Unlike a lot of people, I've always liked hospitals. Every single person there, from the surgeons to the cleaners, is trying to improve the quality of life for the patients, and I really enjoy feeling that I'm part of that team."
