Ipswich Town sign Chiedozie Ogbene from Luton

Ipswich Town has completed the transfer of Chiedozie Ogbene from Luton Town on a four-year contract.

The Athletic reports Town paid a transfer fee of roughly £8 million for Ogbene. The 27-year-old winger, capped 20 times for the Republic of Ireland, netted 4 goals in 30 Premier League appearances with Luton last season.

The big picture: Ogbene's arrival addresses Ipswich's need for cover and competition in the right wing and wing-back positions. His versatility also allows him to play centrally, offering tactical flexibility.

Ogbene's arrival offers natural cover and competition for Wes Burns, who has been out with injuries both last season and this campaign.

What they're saying: Speaking to Town TV, Ogbene expressed excitement about the move: "I'm very excited and feel lucky to have this opportunity to play in the Premier League again."

"I've had very positive chats with the manager and for someone to believe in me that I could play at this level again means a lot to me and my family. I know what he wants from me and the role I will play and I'm here to be a positive addition to the squad as we look to achieve our goals."

What's next: Ogbene will wear the number 21 shirt for Town and will likely feature in the match day squad as Town take on Fulham at Portman Road this weekend.
