Global jewellery brand Lovisa to open in historic Grimwades building

International fashion jewellery retailer Lovisa is set to open in the remaining ground floor unit of the Grimwades building, creating seven jobs and bringing the final piece of the regeneration project into place.

Why it matters: The opening will complete the transformation of the historic Grimwades building, which was acquired by Ipswich Borough Council through the Towns Fund programme, following café brand Jamaica Blue's opening in July.

The details: Lovisa's Ipswich store will create seven jobs split across full and part-time roles. The brand, which launched its first store in April 2010, now operates more than 900 stores across 45 countries, including a location in Beverly Hills.

A planning application has been submitted to modify and modernise the shopfront. Subject to planning permission being granted, Lovisa hopes to open in the new year.

What they offer: The fashion jewellery brand delivers 150 new styles to stores each week, taking inspiration from couture runways and current street style. The company describes itself as catering to everyone with on-trend fashion jewellery at ready-to-wear prices.

What they're saying: Councillor Neil MacDonald, leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said: "We're excited to be welcoming Lovisa to Grimwades. Their arrival supports our wider ambitions for the town centre. The addition of Lovisa alongside Jamaica Blue shows the growing interest in Ipswich from national and international brands."

The bottom line: The arrival of an international brand with a presence in 45 countries demonstrates growing confidence in Ipswich's town centre and, when open, will mark the completion of the Grimwades building regeneration.
