**Why it matters:** The results reinforce what the college describes as a combination of high academic ambition and an inclusive approach to education, at a school that is non-academically selective and takes students of a broad range of abilities.

**The details:** Among the standout individual achievements, student Max achieved grade 9s across nine different subjects. Students also performed particularly strongly in Fine Art, Biology, Spanish and History.

Students in Years 8 and 9 also had results to celebrate in the Further Project Qualification (FPQ) and Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), extension qualifications that sit outside the conventional curriculum. St Jo's says 100% of FPQ students achieved A\*-A, with 86% achieving A-C in HPQ.

**What they're saying:** Mrs Danielle Clarke, principal of St Joseph's College, said: "Results Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and the hard work, determination and growth behind every result.

"What makes us particularly proud at St Jo's is that our students do not all begin from the same starting point or follow the same path. Our role is to know every young person, understand their strengths and aspirations, and provide them with the challenge, encouragement and opportunities they need to achieve their personal best.

"We believe high academic ambition and an inclusive community belong together. Today's results are a powerful reflection of what our students can achieve when they are given the appropriate environment alongside expectations and support to meet them.

"For many of our students, today's results represent more than the culmination of their GCSE studies. They represent another milestone in a journey that began in our Nursery or Prep and continues into Sixth Form."

Deputy principal Mr Sacha Cinnamond said: "FPQ and HPQ projects enable students to study areas of personal interest that can be bespoke to their individual goals and destinations. This kind of qualification can also help to develop research skills and independent learning, with the opportunity to explore topics in greater depth and build confidence in presenting ideas."

**The bigger picture:** For many of this year's Year 11 students, the college says their journey began long before they sat their first GCSE, having joined St Jo's in Nursery or Prep and progressed through the school alongside the same friends and teachers over many years.

**The bottom line:** St Joseph's College says its results this year reflect what it can achieve when high expectations are combined with individual support for students, regardless of their starting point.
