Popular Ipswich music venue to reopen under new management
The Music Room, a 400-capacity venue on Wykes Bishops Street, is set to reopen this Saturday under new ownership after closing in November.
The big picture: The venue's previous closure came on the same day Ipswich MP Jack Abbott highlighted the crisis facing grassroots music venues during a Westminster debate, revealing that two such venues are closing every week across the country.
The details: The venue, located off Duke Street, will now be managed by Charlie Ross, Darren Smith and Aaron Buckland.
The grand reopening on Saturday, 07 December, runs from 20:00 until 02:00 and features:
- Live music from MySpace or Yours? performing 2000s emo and nu-metal covers
- DJ sets from Darren Smith and guests playing rock, metal and punk
- An alternative Christmas market with local traders, including Bleugh, Bewitched Jewellery & Gifts, Leather, Feather and Bone, and Skosgraart
