Why it matters: Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the victim sustained an injury behind his ear that required hospital treatment.

The details: Officers were called at 13:20 on Friday, 22 August, to reports of a fight between a man and two other males in Cowslip Close, Chantry.

The victim has since been discharged from hospital following treatment for his injury.

What happened next: On Saturday morning, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has been released on bail until Thursday, 13 November, pending further enquiries.

Efforts to locate the second suspect are ongoing.

What they're saying: Detectives are particularly keen to trace a witness who had relayed details of the attack to another member of the public, who then in turn called the emergency services.

What's next: This witness, or anyone else with information about this incident, is asked to contact South CID at Landmark House in Ipswich, quoting reference: 37/47603/25.

The bottom line: Police continue their investigation into the assault and are urging anyone with information to come forward to help identify the second suspect.
