Mother and son charged over Stowmarket stabbing that sparked massive police response

A mother and son have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm following a stabbing in Stowmarket on Sunday.

The details: The arrests came after a rapid police response, with both suspects detained within 90 minutes of the reported attack.

  • Police were called to Leveret Gardens at 11:00 on Sunday after reports a man had been attacked with a knife
  • The victim, in his 20s, remains in hospital in a stable condition
  • Officers located a suspect vehicle in Norwich Road, Ipswich, at 11:35, arresting a 60-year-old woman
  • A 26-year-old man was arrested at 12:25 at an address on Grimwade Street, Ipswich

Who's charged:

Simon Jones, of Freehold Road, Needham Market, is charged with:

  • Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • Possession of a knife in a public place

Nicola Jones, also of Freehold Road, Needham Market, is charged with:

  • Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm

What's next: Both suspects have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court today.
