Man seriously injured in Ipswich Waterfront assault

Police are seeking witnesses after a man was attacked with a glass bottle near Ipswich's Waterfront early Sunday morning, leaving him with severe head and facial injuries.

What happened: An altercation between two men that began inside A-Listers at Aurora Bar on Helena Road spilt outside shortly before 12.15am on Sunday, 18th August.

  • The victim, a man in his 30s, was reportedly pinned against a parked grey BMW and struck with a glass bottle.
  • He sustained serious head and facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
  • His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
  • A third man who attempted to intervene suffered hand injuries.
  • The suspect is believed to have fled on foot towards the university.
