# Man arrested after six-hour Ipswich rooftop standoff

**The details:** Emergency services were called when the man was seen climbing onto a roof in Charles English Close at around 11:20 on Saturday 20 September. The situation was safely resolved shortly before 18:00 that day.

- The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, possession of Class A drugs, possession of an offensive weapon and recall to prison.
- He was initially taken to hospital as a precaution before being transferred to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he currently remains.

**The bigger picture:** The rooftop incident was connected to earlier drug arrests in the Cardinal Park area at around 11:00 the same morning.

- An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, possession of a knife or bladed article and possession of Class A drugs.
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug and possession of Class A drugs.

**What's next:** Both the woman and boy were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being bailed to return to police on 12 December. The 20-year-old man remains in custody.
