The latest:

  • An overturned lorry has closed the A12 southbound near Copdock
  • Two further crashes on the A14 westbound have led to closures near Sproughton and Wherstead
  • Suffolk Police are at the scenes of all three incidents
  • National Highways warns the A12 recovery operation will be "complex" as the lorry has "come to rest on its side on the verge"

Diversion details: Drivers heading south on the A12 are being directed to:

  • At Copdock Mill Interchange take the A1214 to Ipswich and continue to the signalised junction with the A1071
  • At the junction turn left and follow the A1071 to the roundabout with the B1113
  • At the roundabout take the first exit and follow the B1113 through Washbrook and Copdock to rejoin the A12 southbound at Junction 32B Bentley

Impact: The southbound carriageway looks set to be closed for most of rush hour, with knock-on effects also affecting the A14 westbound near the Copdock Interchange.

The bottom line: Multiple incidents across Ipswich's road network have created significant disruption, with drivers advised to seek alternative routes or expect lengthy delays.
